RESTAURANT REVIEW |
Starters offer even more variety than the main courses. Gumbo is good, but the battered-and-fried items such as oysters, alligator, crab balls, and catfish beignets are more intriguing. Leading the rich and pleasing desserts is the house-made pecan bread pudding with whiskey sauce. While not fancy, the restaurant is comfortable. It's a good place to keep in mind for Sunday brunch--New Orleans-style breakfasts are a treat. Louisiana Express, 4921 Bethesda Ave., Bethesda; 301-652-6945. Open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. — David Dorsen | ||||||||||||
